One of the things that has made ATG's VoIP / SIP service successful is the equipment used at the edge of the network at each customer's site. About 2 years ago we started to look around for a partner with the right equipment and technology to provide us all the controls we needed. We looked at the usual providers: Adtran, Cisco and etc. However, we found Edgewater, a manufacturer in Santa Clara, CA, that had a product line with a suite of features we could use as our platform.
Edgewater Networks has been supplying our equipment for the past several years with great success. We use the Edgemarc (EM) 200, 250 (for wireless and POTS lines), 4500 and their Edgeview service. We terminate ADSL with the 200 series, Metro E and DS1/T1 services with the 4500 and all of them have Ethernet WAN interfaces for cable ISPs. One of these devices is required in ALL of our internet and/or voice deployments. No EM ... no service.
We have done interoperability tests with several large PBX vendors for delivering SIP service directly into their phone equipment. The EM allows us to deliver analog, digital or PRI and our PRI product isn't locked into 23 channels; we can deliver 5 or 25; that's the beauty of SIP trunking.
The EM monitors all the voice traffic and support quality of service (QoS) across the network which is critical in any network with VOIP/SIP service from ATG. We have all the enterprise router features to include VLANs, firewall and WAN Link Redundancy, which is gaining market steam. We also monitor all traffic at the WAN via our ATG|view product.
ATG|view is our service for real time WAN Internet traffic monitoring. It is critical for ATG to monitor ALL our network real time and ATG|view allows us to see traffic by the hour, day, week, month and year. With this information we empower our customers to really see how much WAN traffic they are generating. We have great case studies relating to this information and the business decisions arrived from it. Not to mention the virus and other malicious activity we've sniffed out and countered. With ATG|view coupled with Edgewater's Edgeview; we provide another level of monitoring.
Edgeview allows ATG to deliver you with the best possible VOIP / SIP support. We get incredible network visability in the performance of the VOIP/SIP we deployed. We can see the average mean opinion score (MOS), status of all the devices, IP address and active calls right from the dashboard. With that information, we can analyze deep into the network, troubleshoot accordingly, and help you work more efficiently.
